Have you read any good books lately?

I’m reading Daniel Pink’s book “When” at the moment – all about the science (not art) of timing. It will change how you look at your calendar (and how you book a hospital appointment) forever!

Before that I read Patty McCord’s book “Powerful”, which is truly one of the most essential books about HR, company culture and leadership you can get. Patty was Chief Talent Officer at Netflix for 14 years and the book shares the learnings and practice of what was a deeply unique culture there.

And I’ve also just finished “Option B” by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. Another great book about empathy and handling grief in a business context. Tragedy and grief is inevitable in life and we don’t talk about it enough or prepare ourselves enough. I think this book should be required reading for line managers everywhere. Unless they have a very small team for a very short time, they’re going to have to handle issues of grief at some point in their team and this is an excellent manual for how to handle it better.

Glenn's first book, the international HR bestseller, Build it : A Rebel Playbook for Employee Engagement is available in hardback, on Kindle, iBooks and now an Audible Audiobook.

Find it online or order from your favourite local bookstore.
